For the third time on the day, a Saints secondary player has picked off Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton. Earlier in the quarter, safety Kenny Vaccaro deflected a pass that went up in the air and was plucked off the grass by rookie Marcus Williams. This time Vaccaro, who was benched during last week’s game, did all the work himself.
Vaccaro spent last week hearing his name in trade rumors, and then turned in an abysmal performance against the Patriots’ high-powered offense. Nothing solves those issues than facing a familiar foe.
