Archie Manning was the first favorite player for several generations of New Orleans Saints fans, including his son Peyton. And the younger Manning went on to put together such an impressive NFL career in his own right that he’s earned enshrinement to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in its Class of 2021. And when Peyton will be formally inducted later this summer, it’ll be his father introducing him.
“He never was my coach, but always was my mentor. I can only think of about two or three games that he missed since I was in high school or college and in the NFL,” Manning said in a statement through the Hall of Fame, continuing: “Just a no-brainer as far as picking him to present me and just couldn’t have a more appropriate person to do that.
