The New Orleans Saints signed veteran linebacker/defensive end Anthony Spencer last week to a league-minimum contract, according to NFLPA records.
Spencer's one-year deal is worth $950,000, which includes an $870,000 base salary and an $80,000 signing bonus. That's the league minimum base salary for a player with Spencer's level of service time.
Spencer's deal will count only $655,000 against the salary cap because of the league's Veteran Minimum Benefit, which offers an incentive for teams to sign veteran players.
Spencer, 31, spent the first eight years of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.
