The New Orleans Saints only had two picks through the first two days of the NFL draft, and then turned around and used a Day 3 pick to help them move up in the first round. It cost Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton a fifth-round choice as well as a first-round pick in 2019 to move up in order to select DE Marcus Davenport.
On Day 3, the Saints went a bit unconventional. Some may even say they might sprain a shoulder joint with all of the reaching they did. Time will tell though whether they were just ahead of the curve, or trying to do too much.
