The New Orleans Saints will have Sean Payton on the sidelines again next season. Amid speculation that Payton could leave for a different job, he announced Wednesday that he would remain the Saints' head coach.
“I understand the skepticism," Payton said at a press conference today. "But this is where I plan on coaching. And I don’t envision myself coaching for any other club."
Payton was linked to several jobs this season, including the 49ers, Giants and Dolphins. However, Payton said he wants to remain in New Orleans.
"I plan on finishing my career here," Payton said. "I'll be here as long as they have me."
He signed a five-year contract that runs through the 2017 season. It pays him $8 million per year.
