With the holiday season finally rolling around, things are beginning to look bright in New Orleans. For the hometown Saints, a playoff run is now in sight following the events that occurred on the playing surface this past weekend, and the "Who Dat Nation" appears ready to pack the Mercedes-Benz Superdome if the Black and Gold get the privilege of hosting a home postseason contest. While the Saints are progressing through their regular season campaign, Chat Saints is also going through its winter changes. In last week's blog post, I mentioned that there were going to be several additions added to the content that we provide here at ChatSaints.com. The time to implement some of these changes has finally come, and I cannot wait to get this show on the road.
Ever since I first accepted the job at Chat Saints, one of my first intentions was to set up a podcast that connected both myself and my readers in a way that no text-based article ever could. However, due to the busy schedule that goes hand-in-hand with the college lifestyle, I was unable to organize such a podcast. With five weeks off for winter break, though, this seemed like a prime opportunity to finally give this experiment its first "test run."
Beginning on Thursday, December 15, I will be hosting a 45-minute online show at 7:00 p.m. via Blog Talk Radio, a website that allows people to record, post, and spread their podcast sessions through the multitude of social networking sites that are available to the general public. In this 45-minute program, I will cover a plethora of Saints/NFL-related topics, ranging anywhere from moves made in the New Orleans front office to the performances of individual players on the field. Here at Chat Saints, I look to bring the average fan all of the statistics needed to better understand the context of the NFL, and through this podcast, I'm hoping that this goal will be made easier.
Also, in order to incorporate my readers and Chat Saints followers into the podcast, I ask that fans openly send me questions through two primary resources. First, questions can be submitted to my personal e-mail (bmorefan852@bellsouth.net). Secondly, I always love interacting and speaking with fellow fans on Facebook. If you have a question that you would like answered on theweekly podcast, be sure to either send me a personal message (My Facebook name is "Lawrence Barreca, Jr."), or you could post the question directly to my "Wall." I will accept all Saints/NFL-related questions that are sent in my direction; however, I ask that you send them to me before 7:00 CT on Thursday evenings.
This experiment will last for five weeks, as the final airing of the program will be on Thursday, January 12, 2012. If the show becomes a success, then it will be an idea that I intend to bring back during the Saints' 2012 campaign. If the show has trouble catching the attention of listeners, then I will have to go back to the drawing board in order to catch the attentions of Saints fans around the country.
So with the Saints en route to the postseason and Chat Saints moving into new directions, one thing is for certain: the months of December and January should be two fun ones. Now it's finally time to get this show on the road.
