NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A trial that could decide who ultimately takes control of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans has ended and a ruling is pending.
Closing arguments Friday capped eight days of proceedings in a closed courtroom before state Civil District Judge Kern Reese, who'll rule on whether 87-year-old Tom Benson was mentally sound when he ousted close relatives from ownership positions with his teams.
Benson recently placed his third wife, Gayle, first in line to take over his NFL and NBA teams.
Benson's daughter, Renee Benson, and her children, Rita and Ryan LeBlanc, sued the day the new ownership structure was announced, claiming that Tom Benson is frail and being manipulated.
