When factoring in his relatively strong play during his tenure as the New Orleans Pelicans’ starting shooting guard, it seemed odd that Bryce Dejean-Jones went multiple days without receiving a deal from the Pelicans after his second 10-day contract expired. The reason why he did not receive a deal prior, though, is one fans of the team should have expected. Dell Demps wanted the flexibility provided by the open roster spot for the NBA trade deadline.
Instead of making a blockbuster move involving either Ryan Anderson or Eric Gordon, Demps sent a heavily protected pick to Miami in exchange for Jarnell Stokes and cash considerations.
