SACRAMENTO – With Norris Cole (lower back) remaining sidelined, New Orleans has only had two point guards in uniform recently, causing a real problem when foul trouble has occurred. At one point on this road trip, 10-day signee Orlando Johnson was forced to play some minutes at a position where he has little NBA experience.
Given the undermanned situation, the Pelicans (24-42) signed point guard Tim Frazier to a 10-day contract. Frazier is a former D-League MVP who spent the early portion of this NBA season with the Portland Trail Blazers, but was waived after being included in a trade-deadline deal.
