Scott Kushner of the New Orleans Advocate posted to Twitter this morning that the Pelicans are in discussions to bring on former 76ers #3 pick and Duke Blue Devil Jahlil Okafor.
The Pelicans reported interest shouldn’t be surprising as the team has been linked to Okafor as far back as late 2016, before acquiring DeMarcus Cousins.
Dell Demps clearly still believes the team should carry at least one traditional Center to spend time down low and spare Anthony Davis from banging bodies with the biggest giants in the league. However, signing a young player eager to prove themselves like Okafor may be problematic considering the front court rotation is already full featuring Davis, Nikola Mirotic and the newly signed Julius Randle.
