Pelicans ready for some home Louisiana cooking, starting with Game 3 Thursday

Every NBA team says it’s happy to go home after starting a playoff series on the road, but the New Orleans Pelicans have an even greater longing for Louisiana than usual, partly based on their late-season schedule. Including falling behind 2-0 to Golden State in a first-round series at raucous Oracle Arena, the Pelicans have already spent part of 16 days in April on the road. In fact, due to early-April trips to Los Angeles and Sacramento, they’ve woken up more days in California (8) this month than Louisiana (7).

“I’m looking forward to being in my own bed, getting some rest and getting out of California, even though I love it,” said Pelicans forward Quincy Pondexter, a Fresno native.
