Occasionally demonstrative He Tianju enjoying experience with Pelicans

LAS VEGAS – Please excuse Chinese forward He Tianju if it got lost in translation somewhere along the way, but it’s been quite some time since NBA players were apt to “raise the roof” after making a positive play. Yet following one of He’s three baskets Friday vs. Milwaukee, the 6-foot-9 sharpshooter turned to the crowd and waved both arms in an upward motion, exhorting the fans to cheer. This came not long after He executed another rarely-seen gesture following a three-point make – a brief, above-the-shoulders muscle flex. You shouldn’t mistake He’s bold body language as cockiness, however, partly because it does not appear that the gestures mean exactly the same thing to him as they may to Americans.
