Last season, the New Orleans Pelicans’ offense was painfully predictable. A possession typically ended with an isolation in the post courtesy of Ryan Anderson, a simple drive to the basket thanks to a certain Jrue Holiday or a jumper or attacking action by way of the pick-and-roll for Anthony Davis.
That was not how it was supposed to shake out when the Pelicans hired Alvin Gentry, part of the brain trust that put together the most potent offense under the sun in Golden State. The Warriors thrive because of their unpredictability, and the rest of the NBA has been on their heels ever since that force of nature was put on the floor.
