The Louisiana Supreme Court denied a request Monday to hear an appeal from the spurned heirs of New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson in their two-year battle to have him declared mentally incompetent.
Benson, 88, was declared competent by a New Orleans civil court judge last summer. Then a state appeals court upheld the ruling earlier this year.
Monday's decision should bring an end to this part of their bitter family feud, which began in January, 2015, when Benson ousted his daughter and two grandchildren as successors to his vast empire.
