DeMarcus Cousins will be a part of another historic basketball game next month.
Cousins’ first training camp with the Pelicans is still a couple months away, but first, the 6-11 center is headed to Africa to participate in the second NBA Africa Game, the league and the league’s player association announced Thursday.
The game, which will once again feature a Team World (which Cousins will be a part of) vs. Team Africa format, taking place August 5 at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (Germany) and Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker (United States) were picked to be captains of Team World, while Team Africa, consisting of players born in Africa and second-generation African players, will be captained by Los Angeles Lakers forward Luol Deng (South Sudan) and Thabo Sefolosha (Switzerland, South African parent), who recently signed with the Utah Jazz.
