New Orleans Pelicans rookie guard Buddy Hield returned to his home country of the Bahamas on Wednesday, July 20 to prepare for the “Buddy Hield Invitational,” an event for Bahamian high school basketball players in the Kendal Isaacs Gym in Nassau on Saturday, July 23. Hield was given a warm welcome when he arrived at the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau.
“Everywhere that I have been to support team Bahamas and this young man, people have not spoken about his game, they have not talked about him being the best player in his bracket, what they spoke to is the amazing character of this young man from the Bahamas,” Daniel Johnson, minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, told Tribune242.
