MEMPHIS – It’s perhaps partly due to the number of other key players the New Orleans Pelicans don’t have on the floor right now as a result of injuries, but Alvin Gentry is pleased with how involved Anthony Davis has been in the offense of late. Over a three-game span, the three-time All-Star has launched 31, 21 and 26 shots vs. Utah, Sacramento and Charlotte. It’s the most shot attempts he’s had in a trio of games (78) in his entire career, including the stretch that featured him taking 34 against Detroit in his 59-point explosion last month.
Gentry said during pregame Friday that playing a faster pace helps put Davis in better positions to score, particularly when it means opposing defenses can’t load up on him and throw multiple defenders in his direction.
