It is known that head coaches Alvin Gentry and Steve Kerr are good friends. Gentry was one of Kerr’s assistants in Golden State back in 2014. They won a championship together. When Gentry was a hot commodity that summer to take on a head coaching gig, Kerr said nothing but praise. So, when the Golden state Warriors became interested in acquiring former New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins this summer, it should come as no surprise that Kerr reached out to Gentry in regard to the franchises intentions.
According to Mercury News, Kerr reached out to Gentry prior to signing the four-time All-Star to get a bit more information on how to go about coaching him.
