ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico State’s Brianna Freeman ended up getting stitches Sunday, but not before her team landed most of the punches.
In the second stunning turnaround in as many days at the Pit, NMSU’s women’s basketball team erased an early 15-point deficit and handed host New Mexico a 52-47 defeat. The Aggies (9-2) won at the Pit and swept a two-game season series from UNM for the first time since 1995.
In one respect at least, Sunday’s game was similar to the UNM men’s come-from-ahead loss to Rice on Saturday night: It was hard to see it coming.
