UNLV has hired Arkansas-Little Rock coach Chris Beard to head its men’s basketball program, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Sunday night.
New Mexico State coach Marvin Menzies withdrew his name from consideration earlier in the evening.
“I felt it was good to go through the (interviewing) process with a school like UNLV that has such a strong national brand,” Menzies told the Las Cruces Sun-News.
Beard led the Trojans to a 30-5 record this season. They beat Purdue in double-overtime in the NCAA Tournament’s first round.
