LONG BEACH, Calif. – New Mexico State track and field competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State on Friday. Taniya Mitchell broke the NM State program record for the hammer throw, shattering the previous mark that was set in 2006.
At the Beach Invitational, Mitchell came in 12th for the hammer throw, posting a mark of 59.56m (195-5). Alyssa Watkins (54.18m, 177-9) and Yemisi Oroyinyin (52.50m, 172-3) came in 27th and 40th, respectively.
