LAS CRUCES — Cole Baker will wake up early for a Saturday.
Once he gets out of bed at 8 a.m., the Grand Canyon University junior elementary education major, and the vice president of the GCU Havocs student section, will have two hours to go through his morning routine, head to his office and print out a few liability waivers for several hundred fellow students to sign before a convoy of buses departs for the 5½-hour trip from Phoenix to Las Cruces.
He’s not sure which bus he’ll be riding to GCU’s Saturday-night meeting with New Mexico State, the first time the schools will have played in Las Cruces since February 2020.
