Lori Paulson, an honorary team captain and mentor for the New Mexico State football program, died Wednesday at age 35. Her family members announced her death on a blog, The Big C in LC, that Paulson began to write when at the outset of her battle against a rare form of pancreatic cancer.
Paulson wrote an entry into the blog on Sunday entitled “The Last One,” in which she said she had done what she wished and bid farewell to friends and loved ones.
Paulson, a Las Cruces native who held two degrees from the university’s College of Business, and her family recently gave $100,000 to the NMSU Foundation to support the football program.
