RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team dropped a tough 65-64 decision on the road against UC Riverside on Friday night in the first game of its California road trip.
The Aggies got off to an excellent start with Brooke Salas scoring five early points for a 5-2 NM State lead with two minutes gone in the first. Although, the two sides then went back and forth with New Mexico State leading the Highlanders 12-10 at the media timeout with 4:10 left in the first. From there, the Aggies dominated the rest of the quarter, closing on a 13-4 run, including a buzzer-beating layup from Aaliyah Prince to take a 25-14 lead into the second.
