LAS VEGAS – The New Mexico State softball team scored 10 unanswered runs to erase an 8-0 first-inning deficit to beat Houston 10-8 in the final game of the Boyd Gaming Classic on Sunday.
NM State (11-6, 0-0 WAC) gave up eight runs in the top half of the first inning to fall behind 8-0 early. Then, the Aggies loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning before Matalasi Faapito singled up the middle to score Hailey Tanori and Jeanelle Medina. Chloe Rivas followed that up with a home run to centerfield to make it 8-5 Cougars (16-5, 0-0 AAC).
