James Miller, the associate head coach of the New Mexico State men’s basketball team, is seeking a promotion in the coming days with former Aggies head coach Chris Jans leaving to become head coach at Mississippi State.
Miller said he wants to become the Aggies head coach, he told the Las Cruces Sun-News on Monday, when he said he has applied for the position. As such, he’ll automatically be among the finalists to take over a team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament last weekend, Aggies athletic director Mario Moccia said on Sunday, when it was announced that Jans would be leaving Las Cruces.
