DETROIT — Few people get more of a kick out of proving people wrong than Jerry Kill.
Case in point: following a 21-9 win over New Mexico on Oct. 15, Kill was gifted a dark gray and white serape poncho. Two white horses, reared up in perfect symmetry, and an arched “NMSU” adorn the front with traditional checkered patterns across the shoulders and edges of the material.
Kill said those who gifted him the poncho probably thought he’d tuck it away somewhere and forget about it. Maybe he’d find it neatly folded in a box or crumpled at the bottom of a closet sometime down the road.
