LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Former New Mexico State player Roy Gerela is set to be inducted into the NM Sports Hall of Fame this Sunday, April 8, at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Gerela spent three season with the Aggie football team from 1966-68. During his time in Las Cruces, New Mexico State went 19-10-1.
After his time with the Aggies, Gerela was selected Steelers in the fourth round of the 1969 NFL Draft as the 96th overall pick by the Houston Oilers and played there for two season (1969-70) before playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
