LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The recognitions just keep coming from Nick Gonzales, as the former Aggie infielder was named to the MLB Pipeline Prospect Team of the Year Tuesday.
In his first season of professional baseball after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancelation of the 2020 MiLB season, Gonzales hit .302 with 18 homers and 54 RBIs in just 80 games. The infielder had 45 extra-base hits in his 369 plate appearances and recorded a BABIP (batting average on balls in play) of .388.
Gonzales is currently rated as the 63rd-best prospect in all of baseball according to MiLB Prospects, and is the publications second-best second base prospect.
