AUSTIN, Texas - New Mexico State's Crissey Amberg and Kayli Farmer competed at the NCAA 2017 Outdoor Track and Field Championships West Preliminaries on Thursday. Amberg finished 38th in the 1500m run while Farmer qualified for the NCAA Championships with a ninth place finish in the javelin throw.
"We are extremely proud of both Kayli Farmer and Crissey Amberg," interim co-head coach Larry Carmichael said.
Farmer set a new school record in the javelin throw when she threw 48.63m (159-6) on her third attempt. The Aztec, New Mexico, native sat in first place with one flight left to throw.
