College basketball: Aggie men try to keep pace with WAC leader

LAS CRUCES – The halfway point of the Western Athletic Conference schedule comes today, and it finds the New Mexico State men trying to stay in the chase for a regular-season championship.

The Aggies (13-8, 5-1) host UT Rio Grande Valley (6-15, 2-4) in the Lou Henson Classic in a 7 p.m. tip. NMSU’s lone loss is at Grand Canyon, which has bolted to a 19-2 start and is 6-0 in league play.

It’s been one week since New Mexico State’s dramatic 68-67 double-overtime win at CSU Bakersfield, where Aggie guard Ian Baker hit the buzzer-beating 3 to lift his team to victory.
