Chris Williams, CFL’s Ottawa agree to extension

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Former New Mexico State football All-American Chris Williams has signed a contract extension with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League, the club announced on its website.

No contract details were offered.

Rio Rancho native Williams, 28, led Ottawa with 1,214 receiving yards on 88 catches during the 2015 season. Ottawa advanced to the Nov. 29 Grey championship game, which it lost 26-20 to Edmonton.

Williams began his CFL career in 2011 with Hamilton. He played for the NFL’s Chicago Bears in 2014 and ran back a kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown against Green Bay.
