DENVER – A breakout week on the hardwood floor saw New Mexico State forward Ivan Aurrecoechea named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday the league announced.
This is the first weekly honor since joining the Aggies for Aurrecoechea and the first weekly honor for NM State this season.
Aurrecoechea had a breakout game against Battle of I-25 rival, pounding the paint for 23 points and 11 rebounds for his first-career double-double at the Division I level in just 14:30 minutes of action. The Spaniard was efficient around the rim for NM State, going 6-of-7 from the floor to go along with his 11-of-15 night at the line.
