SAN JOSE, Calif. – The NM State football program gave defending Mountain West Conference Champions San Jose State all they could handle Saturday night before ultimately falling 37-31 Saturday night at CEFCU Stadium.
In the setback, NM State (1-5) QB Jonah Johnson completed 30-of-44 passes for 300 yards and a career-best three touchdowns. Johnson's third and final score cut the Spartans (3-2) lead to just 30-28 with 11:51 to play.
Sophomore Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda continued his strong play as of late, catching six balls for 90 yards and a pair of scores.
