BLAINE, Wash. – After 18 holes at the WAC Women's Golf Championship, NM State finds itself in fifth place. While four spots off the lead, NM State is separated from the leader, Sam Houston, by just eight shots.

On the front nine holes, NM State struggled to get into a rhythm, birdieing just twice as a team. Senior Alison Gastelum carded both birdies, finishing with a 35 (-1) before the turn. After the turn, Emma Bunch posted the Aggies low-score, firing an even 36.

Bunch and Gastelum remain tied heading into the second round.
