OREM, Utah – New Mexico State track and field began its run at the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships from Hal Wing Track & Field on Thursday. Taniya Mitchell and Kayli Farmer took home individual titles, helping the Aggies reach first place with 46 points after the first day of competition.
Mitchell brought home the conference title in hammer throw, posting a program best mark of 60.96m (200-00). Yemisi Oroyinyin (54.25m, 178-00) took home second while Alyssa Watkins (52.96m, 173-9) came in third.
Farmer won the javelin with a season-best throw of 45.
