LAS CRUCES — National signing day is a month away, but New Mexico State’s most significant offseason acquisition took place on the coaching staff.
Aggies head coach Doug Martin has hired former Boston College head coach Frank Spaziani as defensive coordinator, reuniting the two men after Martin served as offensive coordinator at BC under Spaziani in 2012.
“I learned a lot of football from him,” Martin said. “That is really why he is coming here is the relationship more than anything.”
Spaziani has been rumored for recent jobs, including the Rutgers position in 2014.
“For our program, this is huge,” Martin said.
