PHOENIX, Ariz. - In its first WAC Semifinal match since 2014, the NM State women's soccer team (5-12-2) gave an inspired effort against the top-seeded Utah Valley Wolverines, but the Aggies fell 4-3 in the penalty kick shootout in front of a rowdy crowd Thursday afternoon at GCU Stadium in Phoenix, Ariz.
After the Wolverines put up a goal in the first minute, the Aggies began to settle in and counter the Wolverines attack. In the 21st minute. Hannah Leitner sent a perfect ball over the top of the Wolverine defense to Corey Kizer, who collected and sent the ball right past the goalie to tie the game.
