ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After trailing by nine after two innings, NM State continued to fight against in-state rival New Mexico. The comeback effort came up short for NM State as the game was called in the eighth inning due to lightning in the Albuquerque area. When the game went final, the Aggies were trailing to Lobos by a score of 14-6.
New Mexico jumped out to a 9-0 lead over the first two innings. After scoring a run in the first, the Lobos pieced together nine consecutive hits to open the eight-run second. By the end of the second inning, NM State had used three pitchers and was well into the bullpen.
