LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State softball fell 5-3 at home to I-10 rival UTEP on Wednesday. Kennedy Johnson and Victoria Castro each had a home run in the loss.
After three scoreless innings, UTEP took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. The Miners added two runs in the fifth and a pair in the sixth to jump out to a 5-0 lead over the Aggies.
In the bottom of the sixth, Johnson hit her second home run of the season to cut into the UTEP lead. Fahren Glackin doubled to keep the rally alive before Castro came to the plate.
