LAS CRUCES – As a No. 15 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the New Mexico State women’s basketball team is a long shot to upset No. 2 Arizona State today in the first round.
The long ball could even the playing field.
“We are going to have to make 11 or 12 3s, but it’s going to be tough because (Arizona State) extends their defense against everyone,” said Aggies coach Mark Trakh, who is taking NMSU (26-4) to the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season.
This will be the fourth NCAA Tournament in program history.
