GCU (35-14, 10-3) struck in the top of the first when Kendsey Hill led off the game with a single. Laney Gomez followed reaching on a fielding error by Kayla Green. After Niki Gonzalez reached on a fielder's choice, putting runners on the corners, Megan Stevens hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run of the game. Camree Wartman walked before Sierra Smith hit a long ball over the left field fence, giving the Lopes the 4-0 lead.
