ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Thirty good minutes earned the UNM women’s basketball team a convincing win Friday night.
A few shaky minutes got them a fourth-quarter scolding.
The Lobos (4-1) dominated most of their first-round contest in the New Mexico Thanksgiving Tournament at the Pit — a 70-48 victory over Southern Utah before an announced turnout of 5,144. As a result they’ll face Duquesne in today’s championship game at 4 p.m.
The Dukes (4-1) defeated North Carolina A&T 81-67 in the tournament opener.
UNM will be trying to capture its first crown in the annual tournament since 2008, and the Lobos let it be known it matters to them.
