ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Great effort finally yielded a great result for the UNM women’s basketball team Wednesday night.
The Lobos made all the hustle plays down the stretch, erasing a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter and pulling out a badly needed 73-70 victory over Utah State at the Pit.
New Mexico (12-10, 5-6 Mountain West) snapped a three-game losing streak and posted its highest scoring output since a November blowout of Nicholls State. Cherise Beynon led the way with a career-best 24 points, but she got plenty of help from her teammates when the game was on the line.
