New Mexico snaps its 16-game winning streak at Wise Pies Arena in a 78-69 loss to Duquesne on Saturday night as head coach Yvonne Sanchez gets ejected for the first time her career.
UNM fans roared throughout the final game of the UNM Thanksgiving Tournament, expressing their displeasure for the officiating crew for the majority of the contest. Sanchez came into the game possessing just one technical in her four-plus seasons as head coach.
The Lobos were able to keep pace with the visiting Dukes despite the team’s discontent with the refs until the fourth quarter.
However, it was April Rodriguez, Duquesne’s sharp shooting guard which crowned the Dukes as the tournament champions.
