The first official college basketball practices of the 2015-16 season begin this week (Saturday for the Lobos) and the first wave of preseason predictions are on newsstands now.
Magazines like Lindy’s, The Sporting News and Athlon usually usher in the preseason hype machine first, followed by the newspapers and websites that tend to pick up the pace once practices start (the NCAA allows that to be 42 days prior to the first regular season game) and media days (Oct. 13-14 for the MWC) commence.
Preseason media ballots for all-Mountain West voting are due Monday (the league’s coaches have again asked select media around the conference to handle the preseason voting and the coaches will not conduct any preseason polls).
