Utah State coach impressed by UNM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Tim Duryea has to be wondering what he did to so upset the basketball gods.

After 14 seasons of patiently, and faithfully, serving as an assistant coach at Utah State under Stew Morrill, the keys to the program were handed over to him this past offseason.

To start his Division I head coaching career, Duryea had to deal with what some considered to be the best center in the Mountain West quitting on him two days before the season began. Then he opened league play with three of his first four opponents being the only three teams to win league titles in the past six seasons.
