ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — It’s been a month since Wyoming men’s basketball coach Larry Shyatt lambasted presidents around the Mountain West Conference for what he felt was a hasty, non-inclusive decision to cut the league’s men’s and women’s basketball tournament fields to just eight teams.
In that time, he’s been issued a public reprimand from the league after essentially saying coaches were never a part of the process. He added that “it’s embarrassing that perhaps the most intelligent group of men and women at our institutions (university presidents) would choose to eliminate, strip and remove from (six) teams the opportunity they have always worked two semesters for without any discussion or opportunity to speak to not one single coach or student-athlete involved.
