ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s basketball showed up to practice Monday knowing its season was not over.
At the time Coach Yvonne Sanchez and her players knew little else.
As it turns out UNM will host a Women’s Basketball Invitational contest for a second straight season, and is the second seed in the West bracket. The Lobos will face seventh-seeded Weber State on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. contest at Johnson Center. The matchup was not announced to anyone until late Monday night.
Weber State (20-11) finished 11-7 in the Big Sky Conference and fell to Idaho in overtime in round two of the league tournament.
