As conference warmups go, this one sizzled.
The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team knocked down 18 3-pointers, shot 54.8% from the field and poured it on overmatched South Carolina State by a 107-55 count Thursday night in the Pit.
The Lobos, who host Air Force for a nationally televised Mountain West opener on Sunday, had nearly everything working in their final nonconference game. UNM equaled the third-highest point total in program history, equaled its third-best mark for 3s and moved the ball quickly and efficiently regardless which 11 players were on the floor.
“I was really happy with our approach and our mindset,” Lobos coach Mike Bradbury said.
